Beverly "Bev" Woods

Beverly Ann Woods, 88, passed away on January 1, 2026 at Edencrest at The Legacy in Norwalk, Iowa.

Bev was born on March 21, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa to Wilford and Darlene (Poffenberger) Howlett. She worked for Bolt Industries for many years. Bev loved playing bridge and traveling, and always looked forward to their family tradition of vacationing to the lake in Minnesota every summer. Bev was the family’s “biggest cheerleader” especially when it came to their fishing trips, as she hated fishing but undoubtedly always came up with the most creative cheers and chants about summoning the “fishies” to make her family’s fishing experience successful. She was a bundle of light to everyone and her smile lit up a room. Bev’s beautiful legacy will live on in all those who were blessed to have known her.

Bev is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Ralph Woods; children, Vicki (Gene) Smith and Mike (Kathy) Woods; son-in-law, Ron Stoermer; grandchildren, Amanda (Darin) Wicker, Megan (Alan) VanGundy, Aaron (Heather) Smith, Kirsten Smith, William (Jacque) Woods, Alec (Gina) Woods, Daniel Woods, Lindsey (Ryan) Birmingham, Jake Madsen, Keith (Kelli) Stoermer and Dani Stoermer; 14 great-grandchildren, Amelia, Mason, Hudson, Ella, Xander, Bella, Wyatt, Kade, Benita, Mara, Garrett, Lorelei, Lily and Alex; dog, Patty; and a host of extended family and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilford and Darlene Howlett; daughter, Lori Stoermer; and her brother, Wayne Howlett.

The family will greet friends on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 12 p.m. at Park Avenue Christian Church, 3219 SW 9th Street. Cremation will follow the funeral.
