Blake Lee Brown, 37, passed peacefully on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 after a long and courageous battle with Glioblastoma. Blake lived every day to the fullest. He loved life and always had a positive and optimistic attitude.

Cancer was only a small part of Blake’s journey and he never let it stop him from doing what he loved.

Blake was born in Des Moines, Iowa January 29, 1989. Blake grew up in Des Moines and graduated from East High School in 2007. Shortly after, he began his lifelong career at AJ Allen Mechanical in Des Moines. Blake was a proud union member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 33.

Outside of work Blake enjoyed many hobbies always giving each one 110%. Golf became his longest and most cherished hobby. Which he shared with anyone who was willing to listen. Blake spent many years golfing at different courses around Des Moines and was always willing to golf somewhere new.

Though Blake prided himself in his work and spent time perfecting his golf game, his favorite part of life was being a dad to two boys, Hudson and Brooks. Blake was a dedicated and highly involved father. Teaching his boys anything and everything he could. Blake became Hudson’s caddy for his golf tournaments and always made sure he knew he was proud of him, win or lose. From the moment Brooks could hold a club, Blake was teaching him to swing and they spent many Sunday mornings watching golf together.

Blake is survived by his wife, Kennedie; their two boys, Hudson and Brooks; his father, Willard “Willie” Brown; his brother, Rodney Brown; grandparents, Bob and Donna Brown; uncle, Jeff (Stephanie) Brown; and many lifelong friends and new friends he met along the way.

Blake is preceded in death by his uncle, Donald “Don” Brown; and grandma-in-law, Lavonne “Annie” Reid.

Memorial services will be held at Hamiltons near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 from 4-7 pm. A private family burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens, 1 NE 60th Avenue in Des Moines

We welcome everyone to dress in their favorite golf attire. Hats, shorts, jeans and t-shirts are encouraged.

A special thank you to everyone who supported and loved Blake and our family. There are no words to describe how amazing the community that surrounded him was.
