Bonnie Jean Cogley

Bonnie Jean Cogley, 82, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2025. She was born on July 10, 1943 in Omaha, NE to Jerry and Mabel (Farien) Burgett. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1961. She married Russ Cogley on June 6, 1987.
Bonnie was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. After working for Equitable Life Insurance for 37 years, Bonnie retired at the age of 55. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved attending grandchildren’s sporting events, camping, listening to music, and playing games. Bonnie was devoted to her faith. She loved attending and serving in her church community.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Mabel Burgett; siblings, Betty Rounds, Jerry Burgett Jr., Beverly Wike, and Tom Burgett; and grandson, James Cogley.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Russell Cogley; brother, Robert Sr. (Valerie) Burgett; children, DeeDee (Chuck) Burt, Bobbi (Scott) White, and Dennis (Glenda) Cogley; six grandchildren, Ryan (Kara) Horn, Chad (Shelby) Burt, Colby (Bridget) Burt, Erica (Tyler) Olson, Alex White, and Noah (Kim Ferguson) Burt; seven great-grandchildren, Briar Horn, Lily Horn, Killian Davis, Declan Davis, Tyson Burt, Molly Burt, Callum Burt, and one on the way, Baby Girl Olson; along with many nieces and nephews.
The family will be greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home; 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at the funeral home. Bonnie will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be given to St. Croix Hospice.

Russ and family oh I am so sorry you have lost this wonderful woman. This Lady was one of my BEST friends!! Love her to the moon and back. I am so sorry I could not have seen her more times in the last years.
