Service Details

Brian Douglas King, 64, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, at Lutheran Hospital, surrounded by his loving wife of nearly 40 years and their three children.

Born and raised on the Southside of Des Moines, Brian was a man full of life. He loved fishing, shooting pool, riding motorcycles with his brothers, and spending time with his family. Known for his big laugh, quick wit, and being the life of the party—he also knew everything, if you asked him.

He retired in 2022 after 38 years of dedicated work at the Bulk Mail Center, where he proudly held the self-proclaimed title of “best forklift driver.”

Brian was preceded in death by both of his parents, Carl and Sharron King, and his sister-in-law, Karen King.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; his children, Stephanie (Austin) Dagenais, Mathew King, and Carly (Adam) Newsom; and his beloved grandchildren, Delanee, Dominic, Harper, and Natalie. He is also survived by his sister, Carla and brothers, Jeff, Mike, and Steve King, along with many extended family members who will miss him dearly.

Brian will be remembered for the humor, wit, and light he brought into every room—and for the deep love he had for his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home; 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions to Kiya Koda Humane Society in Indianola, Iowa.
