Cory E. Maine, Sr.

Cory Edward Maine, Sr., age 47, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2025, at his home in Des Moines.

Cory was born August 24, 1978, in Des Moines, Iowa to Charles and Phyllis “Pety” Maine. He enlisted in the United States Navy at age 17 and proudly served from 1996 to 2001 aboard the USS Essex as a store keeper, selling boots and working in the commissary. Cory was employed by Polk County as a License Reinstatement Coordinator.

Cory was a dedicated father and he loved his children above all else. He was known among family and friends as a true grill master, always ready to cook a meal that brought everyone together. He cherished movie nights, especially comedies, and loved sharing his favorites with his kids.

Cory was wise beyond his years and he was very intelligent. He enjoyed debating with people and no topic was off limits. He was a sports fan and was very knowledgeable about sports statistics for various teams and sports. He especially liked playing golf and softball, and his favorite teams to cheer on were the Rams and the Royals.

He is survived by his children, Cory Maine, Jr. and Cooper Maine; siblings, Tracy (Max) Steigleder, Todd (Kayl) Armstrong, and Deanna Davey (Pete); several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles; and his dog, Charlie.

Cory was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Pety Maine; and his brother, Ronald Armstrong.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2025, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Graveside Service will follow at Glendale Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
