Carla May Hope

Carla May Hope, 64, was born September 22, 1961, in Des Moines, Iowa. She passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2026, leaving her beloved family to honor her memory and carry on her legacy.

She was lovingly stubborn and full of personality, always keeping those around her on their toes. Her spirited nature, quick wit, and contagious laugh brought light, laughter, and joy to everyone lucky enough to know her. Through it all, she carried life’s quiet hardships with strength and grace, and now rests peacefully in God’s light, free from all pain.

She is survived by her children, Jay Hope, Natisha Knapp, JonnAnn Hope Granillo (Eduardo), Samantha Hope (Chris Hols), and Tanner Lloyd; grandchildren, Faith, NaDiah, Deaken, Neo, Stella, Jinx, Jasper, and Jaxson; sister, Brenda Wilson (Ron); as well as other loving relatives and many special friends.

Carla was preceded in death by her parents, John Knapp and Nancy Sexton (Collins); brother, Bill Knapp; and sister, Tammy Debrouse.

A celebration of life will be held from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2026, at The Temple, 1011 Locust Avenue, 4th Floor, Des Moines.
