Carol Matthews

Carol Karen Matthews, 83, passed away July 17, 2026.

She was born March 20, 1943 in Des Moines, Iowa to her parents, Raymond and Dolores Knudson.

Carol worked for Rockwell Collins from 1966 to 1986. She was a member of the Eastern Start Polk City chapter. Carol enjoyed baking with her grandchildren and going to lunch with her high school friends. She was also found of all animals.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kelly Matthews; husband, John Matthews Jr.; and her parents.

Carol is survived by her son, John (Robin) Matthews III; grandchildren, Kayla (Kameron) Mcfall and Jake Matthews; great grandchildren, John and Max; step grandchildren, Kathleen (Colby) Despotovich and Kristina (Zach) Baack; step great grandchildren, Sophia, Nadia, Mila, Ashlyn, and Brooklyn; and cat, Abby.

Celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Eastern Star Polk City.
