Carol (Reese) Stalter went to be with God on April 28, 2024 after a multi-year battle with dementia. A private family ceremony will take place at a later date at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa where Carol’s ashes will be interned.

Carol was born on January 11, 1951 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, a daughter to Bert and Mary Larson who both preceded her in death. She married Fred Reese in June of 1970 and has a surviving son, Fred Reese III who resides in Johnston, Iowa. A sister, Elaine McClure, lives in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Carol divorced in 1996 and in the year 2000 married Bill Stalter. They resided in Des Moines, Iowa until they both had retired then spent winters in Mesa, Arizona.

Carol was employed by Younkers Department Store for 20 years. She finished her working years at Wells Fargo Headquarters in West Des Moines, Iowa until she retired.

Carol enjoyed reading, playing with her dogs, Lacey and then Charlie, and making various craft items. She had a craft room in her basement where she created hundreds of all occasion greeting cards. She also crocheted several hundred baby hats that were donated to local hospitals. Carol enjoyed riding her bicycle and her and Bill went on several annual rides across Iowa(RAGBRI).

In Mesa, she attended paper folding, Ming tree classes and created several stained glass items. Her favorite activity was attending the weekly Friday night dances at their AZ resort with the many friends she made in the resort. She never knew a song she couldn’t dance to.

Carol and Bill enjoyed traveling and went to Australia, Brazil, London, Greece and Italy. Riding in a gondola was number one on her bucket list.
