Carolyn Roberts
June 11, 1941 — November 04, 2025
Carolyn Roberts, 84, of Des Moines, passed away peacefully at Kavanaugh House on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
Born June 11, 1941, to Earl and Opal Remster, Carolyn spent her life in Des Moines surrounded by family and friends. She worked for the Des Moines Public Schools for many years as a lunch lady, primarily at Findley and Cattell Elementary Schools, where she was known for her warm smile and kindness toward students.
A lifelong reader, Carolyn also loved music, dancing, traveling, and trying her luck at the casino—where she often won. She was a founding member of The Eddie Miles Club, an Elvis tribute group, and brought joy and laughter wherever she went. She was especially proud to have lived long enough to become a great-grandmother—a joy that brought her immense happiness.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Bill (Sheri) Roberts and Pam (Chris Fillman) Roberts; grandsons, Bill Chapman, Tyler (Annette) Roberts, and Jordan (Shelbi) Roberts; great-grandchildren, Quinn, Adeline, Samuel, and Colson; and sisters, Marie Chiodo, Esther (Steve) Burgett, Shirley Scoval, and Pauline Needles.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, William B. Roberts; her parents; sisters, Beverly Trinkle and Doris Remster; brother, Richard Remster; and grandson, Dylan Roberts.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. and burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to Every Step Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

I am so heart broken over Carolyn's passing. We had just had dinner together 4 days earlier. Will miss her beautiful smile and the motherly advice she gave me. Be happy with Bill now my friend. See ya down the road.
