Charlotte Susanne Grossnickle

Charlotte S. Grossnickle, 81, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026. Charlotte worked as a Financial Controller for various businesses in and around the Des Moines, Iowa, area.

After Charlotte’s husband of 42 years passed in 2013, she bravely moved to Virginia to be closer to her daughter. Charlotte enjoyed many outdoor activities, including gardening, hiking, fishing, and camping. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, crafting, and watching sports. Above all else, Charlotte loved her children and grandchildren with her whole heart. She never missed an opportunity to talk about them, proudly sharing their accomplishments and joys with anyone who would listen. Her family was her greatest pride and greatest happiness. Her last great joy was spoiling her step–great-grandson.

Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Kaye D’Alessandro (Anthony); her son, David Meadows (Jennie Chan); her grandson, Ethan Meadows; her granddaughter, Gwendolynn Meadows; her stepdaughter, Jodel Wright; and her sister, Nancy Exton of New South Wales, Australia. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and step–great-grandchildren.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) L. Grossnickle Jr.; her parents, Max and Marjorie (Reddick) Butler; and her sister, Sheila Edwards.

Rest peacefully, Charlotte. You are loved beyond measure and will be missed always.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, VA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
