Service Details

Clark Lathrum Jr, 63, passed away on the morning of Sunday, April 5th, 2026 while on vacation in Virginia.

Clark was born on July 7, 1962 in Des Moines Iowa to Clark Sr & Mary Lou Lathrum. Clark graduated from Lincoln High School in 1981. He was a proud member of the U.S. Navy. He worked at Titan Tire for many years and then retired from the City of Ankeny after 19 years this past October, 2025. He was a proud veteran, avid Notre Dame, Yankees, and Raiders fan. Most importantly, Clark was a dedicated father to his son Justin, only missing a couple of practices/games in all of the years that Justin played baseball. Clark loved to spend time with family and friends. We will always remember how he loved us all. Always there to lend a helping hand, provide a shoulder to lean on, a listening ear, words of advice, and most importantly always there to give you a hard time and "stir the pot" for a few laughs whether you knew you needed it or not. He lived simply and prioritized loving his family and friends. Clark showed up for his people. We will love him and miss him dearly.

Clark is survived by his son, Justin (Liz); granddaughters, Kaylee, Vivian, Sophia and Amelia of Des Moines; brother, Mick (Cindy) of Norwalk; niece and nephews, Liza (Ryan), Zane, and Zach; brother, Jim (Carla) of Runnells; sister, Patti (Ronnie) of Leon; and brother, Gary (Kristi) of Norwalk; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clark Sr & Mary Lou and his sister, Terri.

The family will greet friends Friday, April 17, 2026 beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the Memorial Services to follow at 11:30 a.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. A Reception will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Wakonda Club, 3915 Fleur Drive. Clark will be laid to rest with military honors at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter at a later date.
