Service Details

Colleen Louise Evans, 92, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 20, 2025. She was born March 30, 1933. Colleen lived a life full of love, laughter, and devotion to her family.

On October 6, 1951, Colleen married the love of her life, Larry Evans. Together they built a beautiful life centered around family, friendship, and their cherished home at the Lake of the Ozarks. Colleen’s love for fishing was well known—she could catch, clean, and cook catfish and crappie like no other, and many unforgettable summer vacations were spent at the lake with their children and life-long friends.

A devoted grandmother, Colleen could always be found cheering from the stands at sporting events and dance competitions. Her creative spirit shone through in the many dance costumes she lovingly sewed by hand.

Colleen was also an exceptional cook whose kitchen was filled with the delicious smells of family favorites—chocolate chip cookies, spaghetti, homemade ice cream with hot chocolate sauce, and her famous homemade noodles.
Her warmth, humor, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Colleen’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, whose lives she enriched with her strength, compassion, and generous spirit.

She is survived by her loving children, Mike Evans, Karen (David) Peterson, and Karla (Ron) Foresman; grandchildren, A.J. (Stephanie) Earleywine, Michael (Betsy) Earleywine, Macy Holland, Cassie (Jason) Aldrich, Jessica Houser, Chelsea Foresman, and Alex (Dylan) Casey; and 12 great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy.

Colleen was preceded in death by her sons, Dean Evans and Gary Evans, and her granddaughter, Andria Evans.

Graveside service will be held Monday, September 29, 2025 at Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Colleen’s memory by spending time with your loved ones.

Rest in peace, Colleen. You will forever be loved and remembered.
