Cynthia Ann Murray

Cynthia Ann Murray, 87, of Burnsville, Minnesota passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2026, while under hospice care.

Cynthia was born December 3, 1938, in Des Moines, Iowa to Keith and Eunice “Liz” Pearson.

Cynthia graduated in the mid-year class January 1957 from East High School and worked for the Des Moines School District. After leaving Iowa, she worked in retail, including for Marshall Field and Company in Naperville, IL. Cynthia owned and operated a store called C’s Gifts and Sundries in Bloomington, Minnesota for 8 years.

Spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was what Cynthia most cherished in life. Cooking for her loved ones was a special joy to Cynthia. Her entire family will always be thankful for her kindness and generosity to all those she loved.

Cynthia is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert G. Murray; her son, Mike Johnson (Martha) of Roseville, MN; stepdaughters, Cyndi (Ken) Bonus of West Des Moines and Bobbi Murray of Burnsville; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; sister, Diana (Bob) Van Gundy of Des Moines; brothers, Ron Pearson of West Des Moines, Dave Pearson of Perry, and Tim (Sarah) Pearson of Urbandale; bother-in-law, Richard Huffman of West Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerry and his wife Velma Pearson; brother, Douglas Pearson; and sisters-in-law, Ruth Pearson, Jean Pearson and Donna Huffman.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. A gathering will immediately follow. Cynthia will be laid to rest at Rising Sun Cemetery in Pleasant Hill at a later date.
