Donald M. Torgerson

Donald Marvin Torgerson (88), a longtime resident of the Des Moines area, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the VA Hospital in Des Moines.
Donald was born March 10, 1937, in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Charles and Anna (Loyland) Torgerson.
Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army. A hardworking and dedicated man, he went on to become a self-employed builder and was the owner of Central Construction.
A devoted family man, Donald deeply loved his children and took great joy in spending time with his family. He found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—playing card games and enjoying games of pool and horseshoes with friends and loved ones. He also enjoyed going for drives and traveling locally, often taking the scenic route to explore new places and take in the sights.
He is survived by his daughters, Becky (Mike) Hammar, Juanita (Jeff) Blonigan, and Jennifer (Zach) Baier; grandchildren, Derek Hammar, Riley Hammar, James Roosen, Benjamin Blonigan, Nicholas Blonigan, Jeremy Blonigan, William Spangler, Jonathan Spangler, Heather (Marshall) Heskin, and Carrie Baier; siblings, twin sister Donna Macias, Robert (Jane) Torgerson, Ronald (Fern) Torgerson, Darryl (Sarah) Torgerson, and Judith Chain; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family, and many friends.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Ethel Torgerson; siblings, Gloria Cape, Raymond Torgerson, Dale Torgerson, Arlen Torgerson, Ellsworth Torgerson, Truman Torgerson, and Richard Torgerson; and his parents, Charles and Anna Torgerson.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by funeral service at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Woodland Hills Church of Christ, 2484 SE 68th Street, Des Moines. Burial will take place at Rising Sun Cemetery in Pleasant Hill. There will be a reception to follow at Woodland Hills Church.
