David James Peterson

David James Peterson, born in Des Moines on July 1, 1978, passed away on March 31, 2026. David was a cherished son, a loving brother, a proud uncle, and a deeply devoted father and friend.

David will be remembered for his kindness, quick sense of humor, and the way he loved with his whole heart. He had a gift for making those around him feel valued and supported, and his presence brought warmth and laughter to every room. He held a deep love for his family and friends, always putting others before himself.

A graduate of Hoover High School and Iowa State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering, he took great pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and integrity. Whether in business or in life, David gave his all, and that commitment earned him the respect and admiration of everyone who knew him.

Above all, David’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his wife Amy; beloved children, Owen and Molly; his parents, Carl and Darlene Peterson; his sisters, Shelley Kuykendall (Mark) and Sue Johnson (RJ), along with their children Addison and Ryne; and his brothers, Jared Peterson and Joe Peterson (Karen).

David was deeply loved by all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched. His legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to family will never be forgotten.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 12th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Pkwy, West Des Moines, IA 50266, where family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor his life.
