Debra Sue Lanphier

Our dear mother, grandmother “GG” and a friend to so many, Debra Sue Lanphier, passed away on July 31, 2025, at MercyOne Medical Center. She was 68 years old.

Debra was born October 26, 1956 in Des Moines to Daniel and Mildred Gibson.
She primarily worked as a Home Health Aide but held various other positions in her life. Debra lived for the Lord and her faith was evident in the way she lived – with love, kindness, and selflessness. Debra was a devoted wife, mother and grandma. She had a heart of gold and could be counted on to always be there when needed, to have a listening ear, and an open door where all felt welcome. Debra enjoyed listening to music and dancing. She loved spending time with family on picnics, cooking and playing cards.

Debra is survived by her daughters, Christina Lanphier and Melissa Lanphier; granddaughter, MacKenzie Lanphier; brothers, Dennis (Debbie) Gibson, David (Joy) Gibson and Buddy (Michelle) Gibson; her dog, Sparky; and her cats, Snow and Midnight.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Sharon Wilbur, Ronnie Gibson, Sandy Sable, Richard Gibson and Judy Gibson; and her husband of 43 years, Jerrold.

A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
