In Loving Memory of Denny Rhodes
Beloved Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and Friend

Denny Rhodes passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, surrounded by love and memories that spanned a lifetime. A kind-hearted and dependable soul, Denny leaves behind a legacy of generosity, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Ruth Rhodes, his beloved wife Marilyn, his brothers Lou and Tom, his children Dean, Shari, and Cindy, his grandson Shawn, and his cherished dog, Sunshine. He is survived by his grandchildren Josh (Cindy), Carrie (David), Sara (Dan), and Jacob, and many loving great-grandchildren. While his absence leaves an irreplaceable void, those who knew Denny will remember the countless ways he brought joy, humor, and warmth into their lives.

For several decades, Denny worked alongside his son Dean and many close friends at Garner Printing, where he served as a shop foreman. Outside of work, it was his willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need that truly defined him. Denny’s door—and heart—were always open.

Known for his lighthearted spirit and a sense of humor that could brighten any room, Denny was a pleasure to be around. Whether sharing stories, cracking jokes, or simply offering quiet companionship, he had a way of making people feel at home.

He was a dedicated provider and a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was also a loyal dog dad, most notably to Sunshine, who brought him years of joy. Denny and Marilyn shared a deep love of camping and spent countless weekends in nature with their large and loving circle of friends in addition to their many trips to Colorado. He also enjoyed dining out, cheering for the Hawkeyes, and sometimes Iowa State, and above all, the company of his family and friends.

Denny Rhodes will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the laughter he inspired, the love he gave so freely, and the many lives he touched along the way.

The family will greet friends Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm with the service to follow at 3:00 pm at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Denny will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Marilyn at the Carlisle Cemetery in Carlisle, Iowa at a later date.
