Edna Hamlin, 81, went home to be with the Lord on July 13, 2025. She was born September 18, 1943 to Oliver and Mary Justice in Bondurant, Iowa where she graduated high school and met the love of her life, David Hamlin. Edna worked for the telephone company and then American Federal for many years. She retired after nearly 20 years from Casey’s Corporate.
She enjoyed spending time with her friends, family, and church family as well as her many dogs over the years including Buddy, Molly, and Werner. Edna also enjoyed shopping. She will be deeply missed by those who loved her.
Edna is survived by her son, Rob Hamlin; granddaughter, Hannah (Trevor) Gallagher; great grandson, Keaton Gallagher; siblings, Mary Berrier, Chuck (Pam) Justice, Sioux Newberg, Patty (Charlie) Punelli, and Gary (Annette) Justice.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, David Hamlin; son, Jason Hamlin; and her parents, Oliver and Mary Justice.
The visitation for Edna will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Capitol City Church on 5990 NE 14th Street Des Moines. Funeral will take place the following day, Friday, July 18 at 10:00 am also at the church with burial to follow at Bondurant Cemetery, 879 Second Street SE Bondurant.

Another piece of my heart went to heaven today with my big sister. She was my best friend, she played such a vital role in raising me. I knew I could always count on her, for a shoulder to cry on, to tell her my problems & to always comfort & love me. The thought that I don't have her here with me / for me leaves a hole in my soul. But I know we will be together again one day! No more sorrow, no more doubts, no more pain or sickness. I can't help but be happy for her, even with the deep pain I'm feeling! R.I.P. I'm so sorry we did not get the information to be at Edna's service. We loved Her and Dave so much and will always think of them as dear friends. So sorry for your loss.
