Edward Louis Lockwood

Edward Louis Lockwood, 90, passed away Monday, July 6, 2026 at Cedar Ridge Village in West Des Moines, Iowa.
Edward was born September 8, 1935 to Edward and June (Wilson) Lockwood in Newton, Iowa. He graduated from Newton High School before joining the United States Army. He earned the rank of Sergeant in Company M and served as a paratrooper. On May 4, 1956, during the 504th Air Activation Day at Fort Bragg, he won first place in spot jumping on Drop Zone Sicily.
After completing his military service, he attended the Electronics Institute in Detroit, Michigan, graduating on March 15, 1959, with a degree in Electronic Engineering.
A job opportunity brought him to Minnesota, where he spent most of his life. During his long career with Data Controls, he traveled extensively throughout the world before eventually retiring from the company.
He loved chocolate, dogs, playing cards, boating on the Mississippi River, watching the Sci-Fi Channel, and offering financial and investment advice. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews in Iowa, Texas, Colorado and Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Lockwood, parents, brother, Jack Lockwood and sister-in-law, Beverly Lockwood.
Edward will be laid to rest next to his wife in Woodlawn. Cemetery in Detroit, MI.
