Gary L. Angell

Gary Lee Angell, 79, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at his home in Des Moines.

Gary was born March 25, 1946, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to David and Donna (Zeorian) Angell and was raised by Donna and Clarence.

He proudly served in the United States Navy and worked as tire builder at Armstrong Tire for the majority of his working years. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, going on vacations, and socializing with friends and family.

Gary is survived by his daughters, Jacquelyne Hannon and Julie Angell; siblings, Larry Angell, Julia Hess, Bill Angell, Harland Dunaway, Clarence Dunaway, Jr., and Daryl Dunaway; and four grandchildren, Steven Angell, Craig Mikesell II, Joshua McClaran, and Carlie McClaran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David, Donna, and Clarence; and sister Linda Angell.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with funeral service immediately following at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial with military honors will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, Iowa Veterans Cemetery, 34024 Veterans Memorial Drive, Adel. Please join the family for a luncheon to be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Elks Lodge #98, 5420 NE 12th Avenue, Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family or the Elks Lodge #98.
