Genevieve “Ginny” Elvina (Hecker) Pearson, 76, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Ginny was born November 25, 1948, to Leland and Genevieve Hecker.

She worked for Des Moines Public Schools as a cook. Ginny loved being outdoors, enjoying wildlife, the mountains, and riding motorcycles with her late husband. She was an excellent cook and baker and loved gathering her family around her for family dinners. Her family meant everything to her and she loved spending time with them.

She is survived by her son, Christopher (Carla) Pearson; grandchildren, Barbara “Bobbi” Pearson and Emmet Pearson; daughter-in-law, Renee Pearson; siblings, Leland (Kathy) Hecker, Brad (Deb) Hecker, Verne (Cathy) Hecker, Ruth (Dan) Shelton, and Michelle Hecker; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family, and friends.

Ginny was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Dennis L. Pearson; son, Michael Pearson; brother, Larry Hecker; and her parents, Leland Hecker and Genevieve Ennis.

Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Bondurant Cemetery.
