Harry Van Zandt

Harry L. Van Zandt passed away on his 92nd birthday on Monday, March 3, 2025.

He proudly served in the United States Army from 1953-1955. He was the owner of H & L Carpet. He was a huge nature lover. He enjoyed fishing, puzzles, going out to eat, and playing cards.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marianne; and his two children, Christine and Gary.

He is survived by his daughters, Diane (Don) Elliott and Tarey (Joel) VanHorn; and his sons, Rick (Kris) Van Zandt and Russell (Rose) Van Zandt. He was grandfather to 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-great-grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Cornerstone Church, 4148 E 29th Street, Des Moines. Interment will take place at Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
