Harvey Berry
September 07, 1933 — December 23, 2025
Harvey Berry was born on September 7, 1933, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Hattie and Ralph Berry. He attended Lincoln High School for a time and later proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955.
Harvey spent his working years as a plasterer and drywall finisher, a trade he took great pride in, working until his retirement at the age of 62. Outside of work, he enjoyed fishing, making lures, bowling, and golfing. He especially loved fish frys and spending time with his family. Harvey had a special gift with children—there wasn’t a baby he ever met who didn’t instantly love him.
Harvey was a longtime member of Bethany Open Bible Church and, more recently, attended Radiant Church, where he found continued fellowship and faith.
On June 14, 1959, Harvey married Lucille, and together they shared 66 years of marriage. Harvey passed away at the age of 92.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Berry; daughter, Brenda (Les) Vannoy; granddaughter, Shawna (Chad) Cooper; and great-granddaughters, Elizabeth (Andrew) Rucker and Jazmine Cooper; sister-in-law, Theresa Martin; brother, Fred (Betty) Berry; and numerous nieces and nephews, along with loyal friends who remained close to him over the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hattie and Ralph Berry; his siblings, Weldon (Mildred) Richardson, Robert Martin, Dorothy (Dick) Hand, Marilyn (Victor) Otto, Joyce Stewart, Janice (Jerald) Mills, and Eugene Berry; and his daughter, Barbara (John Jr.) Barlow.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Radiant Church, 1300 Metro East Drive, Pleasant Hill, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family or to the church in memory of Harvey.
