Heng Chan Ung

Heng Chan Ung, 72, passed away on March 31, 2026 in Sioux City, Iowa.

Heng was born on December 1, 1953 to Lynn Tham and Cheung Ung in Hanoi, Vietnam.

He relocated to the United States in 1978 and has resided in Iowa ever since.

Heng was last employed as a laborer in the production department at IBP Meat Packing and Hyvee.

Heng loved spending time outdoors, relishing in fishing and hunting. Above all else, he valued his moments with his family.

He will be fondly remembered as a dedicated member of Lao Temple.

Left to cherish Heng’s memory are his children, Chi Gong Ung, Chi Pheng Ung, Chiming Ung, Lucy Ung, and Tao Ung; and his siblings, Sina Baccam, Hong Ung, Sam Ung, Fong Ung, Leng Ung, Wa Ung, Hung Ung, Amanda Ung, and Jimmy Ung.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn Tham and Cheung Ung; and his brother, John Ung.

A service will be held at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens (121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines) on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior.

Burial at Glendale Cemetery following the service.
