H. Phil Davis

Herald Philip Davis, 82, passed away April 13, 2026 at MercyOne West Hospital in West Des Moines.

H.Phil was born on October 17, 1944, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Marion and Glenna (Klingensmith) Davis. He graduated from Ottumwa High School before continuing his education at Open Bible College in Des Moines. He later earned his master’s degree from Assembly of God Seminary in Missouri.

Throughout his career, Herald pastored numerous churches, primarily in country settings, in Iowa, Missouri, and Ohio. In addition to his ministry, he held various positions in information technology departments across several businesses. He married Sandra Veatch in 1965 and they remained married for 65 years until his passing.

In his free time, he enjoyed crafting canes, decorating for the seasons, and spending time with his grandchildren and family.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Davis; son, Phillip (Sarah) Davis; grandchildren, Grace, Jovie, Logan, and Brooke; brother, Leonard (Marcia) Davis; daughter-in-law, Carmen Davis; nieces, Andrea and Melanie; great-niece, Emily; and nephew, Thomas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Davis; brother, Ronald Davis; sister, Clara Ekwall; sister-in-law, Wilma Morris; and many other family members.
