Jason Patrick Bernard, age 51, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Jason was born February 27, 1974, in Des Moines. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball and softball. Jason was very passionate about his 2016 Camaro. He took great pride in taking care of it and its appearance. He enjoyed watching drag racing. Jason was thoughtful and often enjoying time on his own. Everyone that knew him will remember his distinct loud gravely voice.

He is survived by his mother, Nancy Smith; stepfather, Curtis Smith; sister, Amy Drayton (Hank); and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jason was preceded in death by his father, William Bernard and his grandparents.

A private family visitation will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Jason.
