Janice Irving

Janice Eloise Irving, 73, passed away Monday, July 21, 2025.

Janice was born October 17, 1951, in Des Moines, Iowa to Floyd Melvin Jennings and Doris Janice (Smith) Jennings.

She was her own person that did things her own way, always. She believed in eating her dessert first and always saving her fork, knowing the best was yet to come. She had a great sense of humor. Janice was very artistic. She could paint, draw, decorate cakes and sugar cookies, bake like a champ, crochet, make delicious mints, and could sew anything. Above all, her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved each and every one dearly.

She is survived by her sister, Judy Geiken (William); brother, Melvin Jennings; sister, Joni Huggins (James); daughter, Karen DeWild (Damon); daughter, Kimberly Irving (Jordan); sixteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Doris Jennings; and her grandson, Trenton DeWild.

Services will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Hamilton’s Mitchellville, 303 Center Avenue South, Mitchellville. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Mitchellville Cemetery.
