Jerry D. Ogden

Jerry Dale Ogden, age 74, passed way Friday, May 16, 2025, at his home in Des Moines.

Jerry was born December 29, 1950, in Des Moines, Iowa to William and Evelyn (Fitch) Ogden. He worked as a material handler for Meredith/RR Donnelley for many years. After retirement, he worked as a security guard at Valley High School where he loved connecting with the kids. He took an interest in them and their diverse activities and remembered their names. Jerry was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, camping, and hunting. A summer afternoon could easily be filled with bike riding, barbequing, and listening to classic rock. He was a car enthusiast who like the races, particularly stock car races, and going to the Good Guys Car Shows. He was a sports fan as well and enjoyed watching baseball and football in particular. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Jackie, son Brad, daughter Karri, daughter-in-law Maurena, son-in-law Rick, grandchildren: Daniel, Andrew, Ethan, Jacob, and Kristen, and great-grandchildren Ava and Hunter.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, William and Evelyn and his sister Judy.

There will be a private family viewing and cremation will occur prior to the service. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
