Jacob Tyler Anderson
February 19, 1990 — October 16, 2025
Jacob Tyler Anderson, 35, passed peacefully into the spiritual realm on Thursday, October 16, 2025. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, Iowa.
Born on February 19, 1990, in Des Moines, Iowa, Jake was the beloved son of Shelly Fredrick and James Gasser. A proud graduate of Lincoln High School, Jake was an avid gamer and found joy in spending time outdoors, connecting with nature, and caring for animals. His love for life and living beings shone through everything he did.
Jake worked as a talented Pizza Technician for Casey’s, where his dedication and skill were unmatched—some days producing over 200 pizzas. He approached his work with the same care and creativity that he brought to every aspect of his life.
Though at times Jake struggled to show kindness to himself, he was endlessly kind to others. He was witty, funny, and full of light—always bringing laughter and warmth wherever he went. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, humor, and good karma.
Jake’s time on earth was far too short, but his impact will last forever. His laughter, compassion, and gentle soul will never fade from the hearts of those who loved him. Though our world feels emptier without him, heaven has gained a light that will shine forever.
Jake will be deeply missed by his mother, Shelly (Steve) Fredrick; his siblings, Jennifer (Andy) Birch, Mason Anderson, and Heather Anderson; his grandfather, Jerry (Judy) Ruis; his Aunt Marty; and seven nieces and nephews who adored him.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Gasser; his grandmother, Harriet Ruis; and his beloved dog, Shadow.

I worked with Jake at Hy Vee in the mid 2000's. He was a big teddy bear with a big heart. I'm so sorry to learn of his passing. Prayers for comfort and healing.
