Jacob Ray Arey I

Jacob Ray Arey, 59, of Des Moines, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2025, at his home.

He was born August 20, 1966 in Clinton, Iowa to Betty and Dwayne Arey. Jacob was a truck driver for all of his life. When he wasn’t on the roads, you could find him spending time with his family or watching football. Jacob loved being with his children and grandchildren, they were his world.

Jacob was preceded in death by father, Dwayne; mother, Betty, and step-father, Jim Smith; niece and nephew, Beau and Autumn McNamara; and brother, Eddie Arey.

He is survived by his children, Jennifer & James Mayes, Jacob Arey II, and Justin & Mariah Arey; grandchildren, Alissa Arey, SeAnna, Navey, and Elenora Arey; siblings, Danny Arey, Laura Arey, Rick & Laura Ledesma, and Teresa Jewell; and a host of extended family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in honor of Jacob.

He was always there if you needed someone to talk to or just hang out with, he always had a smile on his face , he had a hell of a sense of humor that made you laugh til you almost pee'd yourself, he was and always will be in our hearts forever and will never be forgotten, I'll always remember him with a laugh that made you smile no matter what was happening in your life 💖
