James Craig Cunion

James Craig Cunion passed from this earth on April 26, 2026, surrounded by his family and friends. He will be remembered as a gentleman and a sweet, respectful person.

James was born on February 27, 1938, in Des Moines, Iowa. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He always had a great story to tell.

James was a lab supervisor at Firestone. His hobbies included playing and watching golf, and listening to classical music. He was also a very devoted Chicago Cubs fan.

James will be remembered by his family as a very hard worker, their personal handyman.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie; children, James John Cunion and Christin Wilson; grandchildren, Heaven Cunion, James Cunion, Jacob Wilson, Nina Wilson, Donovan Cunion, Lizzie Wilson; and great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Miles.
James was preceded in death by his parents, John and Virginia, as well as his sister, Nanette Henry.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 5 to 7 pm Hamilton’s Funeral Home at 605 Lyon St in Des Moines, IA. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church on Friday May 8, 2026 at 10 am.
