James “Tom” Thomas Williams

James “Tom” Thomas Williams, 73, passed away on November 4, 2025, at MercyOne Hospital in Des Moines.

Tom was born on November 30, 1951, to Bill and Doris (Sloan) Williams in Des Moines, Iowa. He worked for Iowa Solvents for more than 20 years before continuing his career as a Teamster Representative for Local #90, where he proudly served his fellow members until his retirement.

Tom enjoyed camping, traveling, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. His easygoing nature and devotion to his family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Cheryl; children, Ernie Williams, Thomas (Teryl) Williams, Tiffany (Tim Kane) Williams, Travis Williams, Allen Williams, and Carson Williams; as well as the many loving children Tom and Cheryl fostered over the years. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Ashley, James, Walker, Mayson, Maddox, Cassie, Chance, Riley, and Travis; great-grandson, Tremier; and sisters, Cindy, Linda, Patty, and Pam.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Traci Williams; sister, Sue; and brothers, Mike and Billy.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines. Funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial at 2:00 p.m. at Iowa Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Food Bank of Iowa in loving memory of Tom.
