Jeffory Lee Davis

Jeffory Lee Davis, 64, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

Jeff Davis was born on March 6, 1961, to Orian and Geneva (Dyer) Davis in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Saydel High School and later retired from McAninch Corporation, where he worked as a dedicated truck driver.

In his free time, Jeff found joy in boating, camping, and especially cooking—earning him the affectionate nickname “Chef Jeff.” He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Iowa Hawkeyes football fan. His greatest love, however, was his family. He adored his grandchildren and delighted in welcoming the newest babies to the family. Known for his sharp wit and sense of humor, Jeff never missed a chance to make others laugh and remained a true comedian to the very end. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Dawn Marks-Davis; children, Donnie Davis, Anthony Davis, Peyton Davis, Brylee Davis, and Brandon (Ashley) Howard; grandchildren, Paige Davis, Dominick Howard, and Elizabeth Johnson; siblings, George (Jackie) Davis, Rick (Judy) Davis, Dan (Cathy) Davis, Steve Davis, Martha Corbin, and Bruce (Silvia) Davis; father and mother-in-law, Ron and Joyce Schmidt; brother-in-law, Don (Cyndi) Schmidt; sister-in-law, Ronda (Rob) Wheeler; his many loved nieces, nephews and cousins; and all his other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepson, Bryon Howard; brother-in-law, John Schmidt; and nephew, Nick Perez.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2025 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines with visitation from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. prior. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
