Jerry Lee See
July 26, 1959 — August 10, 2026
Jerry Lee See was born July 26, 1959, to Caroyl Scott and Dale See and passed away August 10, 2026.
Jerry lived in Polk County all his life and graduated from Southeast Polk High School. He retired from Iowa Concrete Cuttings.
Jerry’s loves were family, friends, and racing, especially sprint cars. He looked forward to Saturday nights and the Knoxville Nationals every August. As fate would have it, Jerry passed away at his Happy Place – the Knoxville Speedway – during Nationals while camping, as he had always done since 1974.
Jerry is survived by his sisters, Pam See and Lora See-Winders; his life partner of 22 years, Cheryl Smith; stepsons, Justin Maschke (Racheal) and Ryan Maschke; grandsons, Kyle Maschke, Kristian Sullivan, Chase Stiles, Tate Stiles, Ian Stiles, and Brody Stiles; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends; and his best friend/little brother, Jimmy Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, stepfathers, grandparents, and sisters, Carla See Howser and Susie Lail.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 21, 2026, also at Hamilton’s, and will be followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Please honor Jerry by wearing your favorite racing shirt and casual dress. Memorial contributions may be directed to Cheryl in loving memory of Jerry.
