JoAnn D. Tredway

JoAnn Dorothy Tredway, 92, passed away Monday, September 15, 2025 at Edgewater retirement home in West Des Moines, Iowa.

JoAnn was born March 5, 1933 to Ralph and Dorothy (Pfeiff) Horn in Davenport, Iowa. She graduated from high school at St Katherine’s private school in Davenport. JoAnn attended DePauw University for several years where she was involved in the Greek system. After a couple of years, she transferred to the University of Iowa. She graduated with a degree in elementary education. While in Iowa City she met her future husband Ray Tredway. After graduation Ray and Jo moved to Harlan, Iowa where Ray ran the family implement business. During this time, they split time between homes in Harlan and West Lake Okoboji. In I977 they moved to Spencer, Iowa and split time between Spencer and Okoboji. In 1988 they purchased a home in Naples Florida to enjoy the warm weather continuing to split time in Okoboji.

JoAnn enjoyed playing golf, tennis, and bridge. She loved to have dinner with her many friends and to travel the world. She has spent time volunteering in the communities in which she lived.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Ray Tredway; her only daughter, Lynn and Lynn’s husband, Mark Walz; two grandchildren and their spouses; and two great-grandsons. JoAnn is also survived by two sisters, Barb Avery and Marilyn McDonald; and numerous nieces and nephews.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parent; Ray’s parents; and by her brother, Bob Horn.

JoAnn will be laid to rest at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.
