John Mealey

John Darin Mealey, 57, passed away September 9, 2025.
He was born March 3, 1968 in Des Moines, Iowa and grew up in Collins, Iowa. John worked in the automotive field for many years, most recently for Stivers Ford Lincoln as the Quick Lane Manager. He reunited with his high school sweetheart and they were married on October 25, 2014.

John lived his life to the fullest and never let a moment pass him by. He had an eye for seeing value in things specifically in art, classic cars, motorcycles, and baseball cards. John also enjoyed auctioneering many times doing it for charity. John was very hardworking and had the biggest heart. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Jodi Mealey; step children, Sara (Morgan) Runyan and Michael (Emma) Runyan; grandchildren, Fallon Runyan and Gibson Runyan; mother, Glenda Scalf; brother, Jim Mealey; step brother, Ken Scalf; niece, Lauren Mealey; nephew, Colin Mealey; and dear friends, Dwight and Georgia Roorda.

Memorial contributions can be made to the family in loving memory of John.

Family will greet friends Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

I’m so grateful you and Jodi were able to reconnect, you two lived life to the fullest these last 10+ years. You were fun, kind, generous and always sharply dressed. No one is going to show up to Christmas as well dressed as you did. Rest in peace John.
