Jordan James “JJ” Wilson

Jordan James “JJ” Wilson, 22, passed away tragically in a motorcycle accident on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. His family and friends will remember his life as one of kindness, compassion, and the positive impact he had on those around him.

Jordan was born June 7, 2004, in Des Moines, Iowa to Jeffrey and Annerose Wilson. He was a beloved son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. He graduated from Southeast Polk where he played baseball and was in the percussion section in band. He loved playing the drums, and taught himself to play piano and guitar. He also loved riding his motorcycle, snowboarding, and communing around a boardgame.

Jordan will be remembered for his strong Christian faith. He was a staff member at Assembly of God Kids Camp, Wonderfully Made Family Camp, and Camp War Eagle. He was an exceptional counselor who led by example. He was enthusiastic, kind, and generous and he was always willing to help others. Jordan was loyal and could make anyone feel welcomed and appreciated.

Jordan served as lead president of Chi Alpha at Iowa State University and on the worship teams at King's People Church in Ames and Berean Church in Pleasant Hill. His life was focused on his faith and his warm and energetic service to others. You could not leave an encounter with Jordan without feeling the lasting effects of his joy and genuine concern. Whether he was spending time with family, supporting his friends and his Christian community, or just brightening someone’s day with a hug and a smile, he touched countless lives through his character and caring spirit. He was currently preparing to spend one year in Botswana on a mission trip.

He is survived by his parents, AnneRose and Jeffrey Wilson; brothers, Matthew Wilson (Holly), Stewart Waithanji, and Joshua Wilson; grandparents, James and Ruth Wilson and Hezekial Waithanji; aunt and uncles, Becky (Jenni) Wilson, Patrick Waithanji, Donald Waithanji, and David Waithanji; girlfriend, Aliya Peel; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members, and countless friends.

Jordan was preceded in death by his grandmother, Esther Waithanji.

Services will be held at Berean Church, 5299 E University Avenue, Pleasant Hill, IA 50327. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2026. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2026. For those unable to attend the service in person, it will be livestreamed through the link below. Because Berean Church is located east of the Iowa State Fairgrounds, please plan your route using HWY 65 north or south and exit at University. Berean Church is located west of HWY 65 on the south side of University.

Though his passing has created an immeasurable void, family and friends will continue to celebrate the life Jordan lived, and the legacy of compassion, generosity, and strength through faith that he leaves behind.

In honor of JJ, the family suggests donations be made to Chi Alpha ISU by going to King’s People Church and selecting "Chi Alpha - Campus Fund”, or to any organization of the donors’ choice dedicated to spreading God's love in the world.
