Jorja Foster

Jorja Kay Foster, 73, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Born on November 8, 1952, in Des Moines, she was the beloved daughter of Marjorie June Long and Mike Otis Stout Jr.

Jorja spent her life rooted in family, home, and the simple joys that meant the most to her. A devoted homemaker and mother, her daughters and grandchildren were the lights of her life. Alongside her late second husband, Garry Foster, she also helped operate their family's woodworking business, where her steady presence and support were deeply felt.

Known for her gentle spirit and quiet strength, Jorja touched the lives of those around her with kindness and humor. Her family and friends will remember her for her loyalty, her love, and the comfort she brought simply by being herself.

Jorja is survived by her two daughters, Brandy Mooney and Katie (Mike) Parker; three grandchildren, Robert (Jessi) Parker, Ethan Parker, and Rylan Parker; two great grandchildren, Dilynn and Noah Parker; siblings, Carole Miller, Judy Stout, Janie (Lynn Bartels) Losee, Richard (Cheryl) Stout, Patty (Roger) Couch, and Brian Stout; and many nieces, nephews and their growing families.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Loren and Michael Stout; and her true love, her first husband, Bobby Mooney.

The family will greet friends Friday, November 28, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 12:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.
