Kenneth "Kenny" Riggs

Kenneth “Kenny” Riggs, 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2025, while under the care of Taylor House Hospice.

Kenny was born September 2, 1951, Des Moines, Iowa to Kenneth Riggs and Ruth (Snyder) Waltz.

He was a diesel mechanic, retiring from Penske Truck Rental in Des Moines and he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Kenny was dependable and could fix just about anything. He was always ready to lend a hand. He had a heart of gold and never hesitated to help anyone, no matter the need. He was loved dearly and will be profoundly missed.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Susan Riggs; children, Kenneth (Sheila) Riggs, John Riggs, Toresa Riggs, Mike (Bassford) Storm, Sarah Bassford, Elizabeth (Chris) Long, and Noah Bassford; siblings, Sandra Jordan, Debbie Helm, Diann Mead, Dixie Foltz, and Michelle Gould; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other extended family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth (Snyder) Waltz and Kenneth Riggs; daughter, Sherrie Riggs; and sister, Vickie Waltz; and brother, Rick Riggs.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2025, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Alathea Baptist Church, 10450 County Line Road, Des Moines, and will conclude with burial with military honors at Canfield Cemetery.
