Linda Kay Dawson walked up the steps to her mansion in the sky on February 13, 2026, where she was embraced by her husband Kenny, sons Kenny Jr and Bill, sister Rena and countless others that she missed deeply every day.

Linda was born on May 29, 1955, to Don and Margaret Johnson. Linda was a proud Eastsider, certified medial assistant and Christian. Deeply rooted in her love for God there is no doubt she is spending eternity side by side with her Savior, sporting new healthy lungs and no ailments or pain holding her back.

What Linda was most proud of however- her family. Every day you could count on the house being jam packed with her kids, grandkids, great grandkids, nieces and nephews. Her living room was covered top to bottom in photos of her family, like wallpaper made up of love and memories.

Linda was fortunate to have spent 50 years with her best friend and soulmate, Kenny Dawson. She never let it go unspoken after Kenny’s devastating passing in 2023 that she took her vows seriously and would never love another- he was the only one for her. Their love for each other was endless and genuine. In those 50 years Linda gained a step daughter Kim and alongside Kenny welcomed their children Little Kenny, Bill (Rhonda) and Tracey (Joey).

Although tiny in stature, nothing was small when it came to Linda. She lived BIG and loved LOUD. Small, but without a doubt mighty. Linda loved a good time and could be found dancing and laughing on her porch. But as much as she loved a good time, Linda knew when to put a halt to the festivities telling all the grandkids, nieces and nephews “Party’s over, time for bed!” Unfortunately for Linda it took her saying it a few times. Deep down everyone knew she loved being the central station for family and felt the safest when she could keep an eye on everyone. It maybe even helped that Kenny would say, “Linda come on, they’re alright!” Previous years Linda and Kenny spent camping and boating with her sisters Rena and Alice, brother Donny, brother in law Jack, sister in law Bonnie, numerous cousins and all their families. She was proud of her kids and grandkids in their sports and any accomplishment they made. It brought her so much joy being their cheerleader. Even if watching them meant covering her eyes and saying “I can’t look! I ain’t looking!”

Linda’s life while full of love, fun and laughter, also had its share of tragedy. Linda sadly lost her oldest son Kenny as a newborn, only hours old. 2009 faced the unexpected loss of her nephew Jack. Then in 2016 she suffered the unimaginable death of her baby boy Bill. She grieved the loss of her loved ones deeply every day, never letting their names go unspoken or memories forgotten.
Linda was without a doubt the matriarch of her family, a stoic powerhouse that somehow juggled it all and knew what to do and when, all while leaning on her faith and family. She defended her family with every breath she took, used her voice when others were voiceless. She held her head high in tough times when most others would crumble. Her strength and grit were admirable to say the least.

In addition to her children Tracey (Joey) and Rhonda are Linda’s cherished grandchildren - Ashley, Billy (Shelly), Lacey (John), Stacey (Brandon), Macey (Seth), Brian (Kylee), Alexis (Mason) and Dylan. She leaves behind 25 precious great grandkids, her “babies”. Also brother Donnie (Tammy), sister Alice, sister in law Bonnie, brother in law Jack, numerous other in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Celebrating her arrival in Heaven include her parents, husband, sons, nephew, sister, and numerous others.

Due to the rapid decline of Linda’s health family was not prepared for end of life planning and request in lieu of flowers please consider donating to the family.

As Linda requested and expected of her closest family, in her honor…#SMPMF!!!!
