Larry Dale Lehman, Sr., 76, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away September 14, 2023, in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on September 18, 2023, at True Bible Baptist Church, 4101 Amherst Street, Des Moines, IA 50313, with Pastor Rod Bradley officiating.
Larry was born in Des Moines, on September 11, 1947. He married Mary Veasman on July 2, 1969. Larry graduated North High School in 1967. Though while he graduated, he was unable to read until his mid-50s.
Larry was a devout man of his faith and an active member of the church. He was a family man, always bragging about his children and grandchildren. Larry was an advocate for adult literary and wrote "The Man That Was Cheated". Larry was a man of many hobbies including fishing, wood working, metal working, and working on small engines. Even in his old age and after losing his hands he would continue to be a big jokester and would always bring laughter and joy to others.
Larry was proceeded in death by his parents, Earl and Wilma Lehman, and his wife, Mary (Veasman) Lehman.
Larry was survived by his children, Lynn Holtzman, Larry (Amanda) Lehman, Jr.; his brother, Bill (Mary) Lehman; his grandchildren, Shelby (Ray) Hanysh, Nevin Holtzman, Shane Holtzman, Zachary Lehman, Kayla (Jesse) Van Gundy, Donavin (Becca) Lehman, Atlas Short; his great grandchildren, Kaylynn Lehman, Haysli Watson, Ryker Lehman, Giovanni Van Gundy; and all of those who have ever been called family.
