Leon R. Bailey

Leon R. Bailey, 80, passed away at his home on August 4, 2026.

Leon was born on September 17, 1945, in Des Moines to Raymond and Marie (Overton) Bailey. He served in the United States Army. Leon was a truck driver. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting and camping were amongst his favorite pastimes.

Leon is survived by his children, David Bailey, Michael Bailey, Denise Lopez, Dixie Moore and Chris Bailey; brother, Wayne Fees; nieces and nephew, Troi, Jean, Trisha, Sheila, Danny and Katie; and several grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Arthur Wright; siblings, LeRoy Grove and Sarah Fees; and nephew, Frank Grove.

Leon will be laid to rest with military honors on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.
