Lila Carter

Lila Mary Carter, 86, passed away March 18, 2026.

She was born December 16, 1939 in Melcher, Iowa to her parents Martin and Esther Colbert.
Lila enjoyed gardening, going to Saylorville Lake with her dog, and going to the movies with her friends. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children; Tim Carter and Jodi (Dave Wolf) McAtee; grandchildren, Lindsey (Brad) Pruess, Macey McAtee, Marty McAtee, and Bobby Keller; great grandchildren, Brantley, Benson, Bauer; and sister, Ellen Hoover.

Lila was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Esther Colbert; and dog, Kane.

Family will greet friends at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Avenue in Des Moines on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial starting at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, 524 NW 54th Avenue in Des Moines.

Memorial contributions can be made to the family for a future donation in loving memory of Lila Carter.
