Linda Sue Turner
January 14, 1950 — July 24, 2026
Linda Sue Turner, 76, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on July 24, 2026.
Linda was born on January 14, 1950, to Cecilia and Glenn McFadden. A proud, lifelong resident of Des Moines, she grew up on the city's East Side and later moved to the South Side in her 30s. She graduated from Des Moines Technical High School. In the summer of 1979, Linda met the love of her life, Alan Turner. They married the following September in 1980 and shared 46 beautiful years of marriage.
Linda was a dedicated employee who worked for both Massey Ferguson and Wells Fargo over her career. She made cherished, lifelong friends through her workplaces. She was also a faithful member of the Easton United Methodist Church Mary’s Group.
A vibrant people person, Linda was confident, warm, and treated strangers like family. Her family was always her number one priority, and she was a beloved "second mom" to many neighborhood kids. She loved cooking, baking, camping, playing cards, and never once forgot a loved one's birthday. Linda was an avid shopper who loved flea markets, garage sales, and finding a great deal.
Most of all, Linda was a certified "Fair-Fanatic." Her absolute passion was the Iowa State Fair. She camped at the fairgrounds her entire life and proudly never missed a single year.
Linda is survived by her devoted husband, Alan Turner; her daughters, Becky (Mark) Sapp and Alyssa Turner; her son, Casey Turner; and her cherished grandchildren, Joshua Sapp, Collin Turner, Bailey Turner, and Landyn Sapp. She also leaves behind her brothers, Sonny (Dottie) McFadden, Mick (Ellen) McFadden, and Rick (Barb) McFadden, along with a large host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecilia and Glenn McFadden; her sister, Cynthia McFadden; and her brother, Michael McFadden.
The family will greet guests on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines.
