Lola I. Estes
February 23, 1941 — August 28, 2025
Lola Idaine Estes, 84, passed on August 28, 2025. She was born February 23, 1941 to Raymond Reis Wilson and Margaret Elaine (Kegley) Wilson in Des Moines, Iowa where she resided for her entire life.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will follow on Thursday, September 4 at 1:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Avon Cemetery in Des Moines.
Lola was a proud graduate of East High School, Class of 1959. She met her husband-to-be at the YMCA Camp in a square-dancing class and they were married April of 1968. They became the proud parents of two children, Raymond D. Estes and Kimberley Jo Estes. She was raised from childhood in Simpson United Methodist Church and was a member for over 40 years. She later became a member of Scotch Ridge Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and the South Side Senior Center. Lola always had a smile to give and was a loving Mom and Mamo. She was a lifelong fan of TV game shows, bull riding and country music.
She is survived by her children, Raymond (Ashley) Estes and Kimberley Estes-Griffith (Tyson); three grandchildren, Jacob, Ada and James; two step-grandchildren, Bryan and Marcus; two great-grandchildren, Noah and Shiloh; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Ms. Lola it was an honor to have met you. I loved our little talks we would have when I came to visit. I will always remember the I.O.U for a quarter to use your restroom lol the look you gave me when I returned a couple days later with the quarter was priceless. May you rest in peace and sing with the angel choir. Don't worry about Kim she is my bestie I will always be there for her and Jacob. Til we meet again sweet Angel.. I love you Ms. Lola

Very sad to learn of Lola 's passing.
We met riding the Metro Number 7. And eventually joined Red Hats in 2 different groups.
Lola had incredible sense of humor. She was the lady, you wanted to seat near at luncheons. She knew no stranger.
