Loretta Irene Shook

Loretta Irene Shook, 86, passed away at Wesley on Grand on November 4, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 9, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with services on Monday, November 10, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.

Loretta was born in Manchester, Iowa on July 11, 1939 to Wilma (Helmrich) and Joseph Mesch. She graduated from Waterloo East High School and was united in marriage to Dell Shook. Loretta cherished her role as wife, mother, and grandmother and was a devoted homemaker to her family. Loretta enjoyed crafts and sewing – making many beautiful projects for her friends and family. She was a member of New Life Lutheran Church in Norwalk.

She is survived by her daughters, Shelly (Craig) Barryhill, Dawn Ackerson and Kelly (David) Marshall; grandchildren, Nichole (Brian) Hauck, April (Mitch) Nelsen, Ashley Ackerson, Abbie (Ashley) Gautreau, Mindi (Josh) Martin, Nick (Kerri) Marshall, John (Shelby) Etten, Eric (Trish) Marshall, Shannon (Aaron) Clausing, Dylan (Tiffany) Marshall; 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother and sister, and grandchild, Mitchell Barryhill.
