Service Details

Lorna Marie Gage was born September 3, 1931 in Oelwein, Iowa to her parents, Walter and Eva (Brandenburg) Kingsland. She was raised in Strawberry Point, Iowa and graduated from high school there. Lorna received her teaching degree from Iowa State Teachers College (UNI). After graduation, she taught music to grades K-12 at Manchester, Iowa for 3 years.

Lorna married Richard Gage and they settled in Des Moines, Iowa in 1957. They had two children, Sarah Bouma and James Gage, all who are now making their homes in the Des Moines area. When her children were older, Lorna finished her graduate studies at Drake University, and taught music in area elementary schools for 20 years.

She retired twice, her first retirement was from teaching in 1985, and her second was in 1989, from co-ownership of Thakeray’s Book Store in West Des Moines.

Jehovah God found Lorna in her later years and she gratefully embraced His message of eternal life in the New World (changed into a paradise). She eagerly shared the message of Jehovah’s promise.

Lorna is survived by her daughter, Sarah Bouma; son, James (Kristin) Gage; grandsons, Ken (Whitney) Bouma, Jacob (Libby) Bouma, Joseph Bouma, and Matthew Gage; step-granddaughter, Samantha Dewett; great-grandchildren, Charlotte Bouma, Forest Bouma and Grayson Bouma; and her sister, Elaine (Clyde) Delley.
