LuJean Mary DeLong Stansberry, 73, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026.

Born on August 8, 1952, LuJean lived a full and loving life centered around family, travel, and dedication to her work. She married John Stansberry on November 29, 1969, and the couple shared 56 beautiful years of marriage.

LuJean was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Brenda Frye and Erin Karnatz. She was the proud grandmother ("Nana") to two grandsons, Michael Karnatz and Gerhardt Frye. She delighted in her two great-grandsons, Cash and Hayes Karnatz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Frances DeLong; as well as two brothers: Jim DeLong and Joe DeLong; and her son-in-law, Matt Karnatz. She is survived by her brother John DeLong (Joyce).

Known for her warm spirit and adventurous heart, LuJean loved to travel and especially enjoyed trips to Okoboji. An avid amateur artist and thrifter, she loved creating art and home decorating. She also doted on her beloved dog, Maggie.

She enjoyed a long and dedicated career, working at Target for 33 years.

LuJean will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her kind and caring nature. Her legacy of love, family devotion, and zest for life will live on in the hearts of her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandsons, extended family, and friends.

A celebration of life is planned for a later date in 2026.
