Michael L. Bartelt

Michael L. Bartelt, age 65, passed away Monday, August 11, 2025, at Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Mike was born March 30, 1960, in Des Moines, Iowa to Robert and Ruth (Shafer) Bartelt. He loved photography, hiking, and being outdoors. He split his time between Iowa and Arizona, and loved to travel to find the best photo. He always had his camera in his hand. Mike was both outgoing and a private person. He liked to keep to himself, but he knew everyone and was always making new friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Hoffman (Scott) and their children, Kaylee and Emma Hodnefield and Tristan and Tate Hoffman; son, Blake Bartelt (Angelina); daughter, Kasi Bartelt (Creedance Duncan) and their sons, Malakai Ardon and Vince Duncan; son, Walker Bartelt (Marissa) and their children, Wilder and Ruthie. He is also survived by his siblings, Leslie Berry and Kelly Bartelt; and nephews, Alex Berry (Bre) and Sean Berry.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Ruth Bartelt.

Cremation will occur and there will be a celebration of life held at a later date.
