Mark A. Van Cannon

Mark Anthony Van Cannon, age 70, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 31, 2026, while under hospice care.

Mark was born January 8, 1956, in Boone, Iowa to Melvin and Mary Van Cannon. He grew up in Boone, and excelled at every sport he participated in while in high school. He was employed as an electrician for Iowa State University. In his free time, Mark enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a very creative and talented artist.

He is survived by his children, Jennifer (Byron) Brown, Lisa and Ryan; granddaughters, Andrea Risius (Jacob Collins), Abigail Risius, Libby Brown, and Nelly Gomez; siblings, Mike (Carol) Van Cannon and Marla Van Cannon (Denny Kemp); and a host of nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Mary Van Cannon; sister, Marilyn (Ed) Gabbard; and his longtime companion, Lynda Siders.

There will be a celebration of life held at a later date.
